An Exquisite Round Glass Dining Table

Furnishing your dining area on a budget can be tricky and knowing where to get the prices is difficult, even when shopping online, so here are some suggestions for specific pieces available through online dealers that offer good value.

A shop called Not Just Mirrors is a new place that sells furniture at good prices. For example the elegant glass dining table made by Powell, called Basil, an antique style metal frame pedestal with a satin finish, costs $90. The top is sold separately and costs $170, which brings the total to $260. Kitchen Source (which is usually a good place to shop for furniture) sells the same table for $135. But although it looks as if the glass is included, it isn’t until you checkout and read the fine print that you realize that the glass is sold separately, so it’s not the best deal around. Kitchen Source doesn’t seem to sell the matching glass dining table top and therefore you’ll have to get a custom piec cut from a local glass shop. What a headache!

Some of the most affordable glass dining table designs are made by Southern Enterprises. For example the Lucianna table (sold through One Way furniture) offers excellent value because it costs only $150 and includes the durable metal frame and the beveled glass top. It’s a round table with a tubular frame that’s powder coated and textured to have an antique look. It’s not too large for small apartments because it’s only 38 inches around, but can seat four people comfortably, and up to six with stools.

The other item that’s useful in the dinning area is a buffet. However few glass tables come as a matching set. An alternative is a tall console table with a glass top. One of the best designs is the half moon glass top table with a wrought iron base. The flat side rests against the wall while the console table, having a rounded glass front, matches a round glass dining table perfectly. The Hillsdale Abbington design is good and costs $180.
