If water damage has happened to your property than you may want to complete the clean up work yourself. If so, you need to know what tools are needed for water damage clean up? What Tools Are Needed For Water Damage Clean Up?

1 – A water remover is of top priority and should be used as soon as possible. If there is a lot of water , a company can be hired as they will have the industrial machines. Otherwise you can use a water sucking vacuum cleaner. Do not stop to use this until you are sure that all water has been pumped out.

2 – A shovel is need to remove any dirt etc that came out with the water. This mainly applies if it was a sewage pipe that burst. In some areas rivers have burst their banks and a shovel was needed to remove all the mud that come with the water.

3– Gloves and a mask. There is a risk that bacteria has started to form which will than lead to mold. Mold is not good for your health and you sure wear rubber gloves and a mask to complete the next step of the cleaning up process.

4 – Disinfectant. A strong disinfectant is needed and this should be mixed with warm water. Use a sponge, cloth and if needed wire brush to remove all dirt.

5 –A dehumidifier is needed to remove the moisture from the air. The big industrial dehumidifier can be hired if the area affected is large. Otherwise you can buy one as it will come in handy in the future.

6 – If the water damage is extensive than you may want to use a heat drying application. This can be hired or you can switch your heating up high.

7 – A video camera or normal camera is needed if you plan on submitting claims to your insurance company for loss of furniture or re-decoration costs.

If you do not feel that you can use all these tools to complete the job properly, than it is advisable to hire a company to do it. If you are covered by household insurance, than give them a ring first and very often they will work with a specific company in order to dry your property out and restore it.
